Music Theory & History Lessons

Music theory and history are critical to every student’s musical education. For this reason, we offer all levels ofmusic theory and history lessons. They are not only crucial for students’ foundation, but also aligned with the Royal Conservatory Examinations System. The RCM music theory curriculum is designed to complement practical studies, and to ensure a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of music study. During theory lessons, students learn from basic rudiments to melody writing, harmonization and analysis. In history classes, students will study the lives and musical contributions of a wide range of composers and their representative works and musical styles. These lessons are held usually on a weekly basis individually or in small classes for eligible students. Students are recommended to complete the theory co-requisites for advancement in practical examinations.
